The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will begin its fall washdown of all 21 County-owned parking garages in Bethesda, Silver Spring and Wheaton on Monday, September 14.
The semi-annual cleaning will take place during nights and weekends, beginning in Bethesda and continuing through Thursday, November 12, when work is scheduled to conclude in Silver Spring.
According to MCDOT, the cleaning helps prevent grease, oil and debris from entering local waterways while also protecting parking facilities from deterioration and providing cleaner garages for residents and visitors.
Some garages may experience partial closures while cleaning is underway, including temporary impacts to entrances, exits and ramps. Contractors will work around garage traffic and parked vehicles when possible, and signs will be posted to alert customers to anticipated impacts.
Drivers are encouraged to check MCDOT’s garage cleaning schedule before visiting and follow posted signs while work is underway.
