Luke’s Lobster has permanently closed its Bethesda Row restaurant at 7129 Bethesda Lane after nearly 15 years in business. The restaurant opened in 2012, taking over the space previously occupied by the Cacao chocolate store.
Luke’s Lobster is a family-owned Maine seafood business founded by third-generation lobsterman Luke Holden. The company began in 2009 as a small lobster roll shop in New York City after Holden struggled to find an authentic Maine lobster roll that reminded him of home.
Holden and partner Ben Conniff built the business with seafood sourced from fishermen through Holden’s father Jeff’s seafood production company, an arrangement that supported the opening of their first ten locations.
The Bethesda restaurant was the company’s only Maryland location. News of the closure was shared with The MoCoShow by FOX5’s Jen Delgado. A nearby Luke’s Lobster in D.C.’s Penn Quarter continues to operate at 624 E St NW. Its hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11am-8pm and Friday and Saturday from 11am-9pm.
