Takoma Park Police are investigating a reported weapons offense inside an apartment building in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Ave early Sunday morning.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 12:04am on September 13, 2026. According to police, the victim reported that an unknown male confronted him after he exited an elevator into the building’s lobby.
Following an exchange of words, the suspect allegedly opened a crossbody bag and displayed a firearm. The victim reported that the suspect then racked the firearm’s slide while it remained inside the bag, causing a round of ammunition to fall to the floor.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 16 to 17 years old, last seen wearing a gray shirt, black pants, and a black crossbody bag.
The victim immediately left the building and contacted police. Responding officers searched the lobby but did not recover the reported ammunition. Officers also searched the surrounding area but did not locate the suspect.
