A parade, live performances and a community festival will bring residents together this Saturday, September 19, for Burtonsville Day at the Marilyn J. Praisner Library and Community Recreation Center.
This year’s theme is “Building a Better Community Together.” Festivities begin with a parade from 10am to 11am, traveling from Paint Branch High School to the Praisner Center.
The community festival follows from 11am to 3pm, with food trucks, international cuisine, local vendors, crafts and exhibitors. Families can enjoy children’s activities, along with live music, dance and martial arts performances.
Montgomery County agencies and nonprofit organizations will also participate, sharing information about health screenings, public safety resources, constituent services and other programs.
Visitors should plan ahead for road closures surrounding the parade. Old Columbia Pike will close between Old Briggs Chaney Rd near Paint Branch High School and the Praisner Center from 9:30am until approximately 11:30am. Perrywood Dr will close between Carson Dr and Old Columbia Pike from 9:30am until approximately 11am.
Nearby residents are encouraged to walk, bike or choose another car-free way to attend. Those driving should plan to arrive before the Old Columbia Pike closure begins at 9:30am. Free parking will be available at Benjamin Banneker Middle School.
