Poolesville’s historic downtown will welcome thousands of visitors this Saturday, September 19, as Poolesville Day returns with a parade, family activities, live entertainment and the return of its Classic Car Show.
The free festival runs from 10am to 4pm at Whalen Commons, 19701 Fisher Ave, rain or shine. A community tradition for more than 25 years, the event typically draws more than 12,000 visitors.
An 8am charity 5K will kick off the day ahead of the Poolesville Day Parade, which takes place from 10am to 11am. This year’s Grand Marshal is John Speelman, who has owned Poolesville Hardware since 1987. Organizers recognized his decades of service to customers, support for local Scouts and work to bring the Classic Car Show back to the festival.
Families can enjoy mechanical rides, a moon bounce, train and pony rides, and Falcon Lane activities for children ages 8 and older. Arts and crafts vendors, exhibitors, and food and beverage vendors will also participate.
Throughout the festival, visitors can catch performances by local musicians, watch live Agricultural Reserve demonstrations and explore an electric vehicle show alongside the returning Classic Car Show. The Poolesville Day Committee organizes the annual celebration with help from local volunteers.
