Students are invited to attend the fourth annual “Buckets and Beats: The Silver Spring Youth Block Party” on Friday, Sept. 18 from 2-6pm at Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring.
The free event, hosted by the Office of Montgomery County Councilmember Kate Stewart and the Silver Spring Regional Services Office, coincides with an early release day for Montgomery County Public Schools. Middle and high school students are invited to attend following dismissal.
Activities will include a basketball tournament hosted by Montgomery County Recreation, skateboarding, arts and crafts, a live DJ, free food and prizes. MCPS students ages 12 and older can sign up to participate in the basketball tournament and skateboarding activity.
According to Stewart, the event also connects young people with County resources and services, including mental health services, recreation programs and enrichment opportunities.
“Buckets and Beats: The Silver Spring Youth Block Party is one of my favorite events of the year, because it brings our community together and showcases County resources, services and opportunities available to our young people,” Stewart said. The event runs from 2-6pm at Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring on Friday, Sept. 18.
