Cirque Italia is bringing its traveling “Aquatic Spectacular” to the Montgomery County Agricultural Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg for four days this fall.
Performances are scheduled for October 16-19 under a climate-controlled tent at the fairgrounds, located at 501 Perry Pkwy. The centerpiece of the show is a custom-designed water stage featuring 35,000 gallons of water. Performers take to the stage above and around the water as curtains of rain and fountain jets are incorporated into the acts.
The family-friendly production features a mix of traditional and modern circus performances, including aerialists swinging from ropes, trapeze acts, BMX riders, roller skaters and other high-energy performances. Laser lights, bubbles and water effects are also incorporated into the production, along with appearances by mermaids and dinosaurs.
Cirque Italia was founded in 2012 by Manuel Rebecchi, the nephew of famed Italian circus performer Moira Orfei. The company describes its productions as European-style circus performances that combine traditional circus arts with modern staging and theatrical elements.
For the Gaithersburg performances, Cirque Italia is offering one free child admission per paid adult ticket in seating levels 2 and 3 when tickets are purchased online using the promotional code “FACEFREE.” The Aquatic Spectacular will be at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fairgrounds from Friday, October 16 through Monday, October 19.
