Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on West Diamond Avenue near I-270 in Gaithersburg Monday evening.
According to Montgomery County Police, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:29pm to the area of West Diamond Avenue and I-270 for a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Police said the male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.
MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer initially reported that crews were evaluating one adult with traumatic injuries and that some lanes were blocked.
West Diamond Avenue is closed at the ramp to southbound I-270 due to the collision. Police are advising drivers to seek an alternate route and expect significant delays. Additional details surrounding the collision have not yet been released.
