Washington Gas’ gas main replacement project along Carroll Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Columbia Avenue may now continue through the end of the year after the project timeline was extended beyond its original estimate.
Work began on or about July 27 and was initially expected to take approximately two months to complete. According to an updated notice, the project has taken longer than originally anticipated, with work potentially continuing through the end of 2026.
Work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm.
During construction, one lane of Carroll Avenue will be closed within the work zone. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the construction area.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone, follow the directions of flaggers and allow additional travel time.
The project involves Washington Gas replacing the gas main along Carroll Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Columbia Avenue.
