Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center has earned the American Heart Association’s 2026 Commitment to Quality award, making it one of 222 hospitals nationwide to receive the recognition.
The award recognizes hospitals that demonstrate high achievement in at least three of the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines programs. The programs use real-time data registries, evidence-based clinical protocols and collaboration across medical specialties to improve patient care.
Earlier this summer, Shady Grove Medical Center received several individual American Heart Association honors for its heart and stroke care. The hospital earned the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Award, along with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll and Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition. Its cardiac care team received the Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI Silver Award with Target: Type 2 Diabetes, while the hospital also earned the Resuscitation Silver Award for its care of patients experiencing cardiac arrest while hospitalized.
“This honor demonstrates our hospital’s dedication to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality care across every department,” said Dr. Neil Roy, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer. “It also reflects the commitment of our care teams to our Mission, making sure we meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of all our patients. The Commitment to Quality award adds to several national recognitions Shady Grove Medical Center has received in 2026. The hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group and the HeartCare Center National Distinction of Excellence from the American College of Cardiology. It was also included on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals and Healthgrades’ 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery.
The hospital’s pediatric and critical care nursing teams and its Center for Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine have also received national honors this year for patient care.
