Walter Johnson High School sent a letter to families on Friday regarding a hate-bias incident that occurred at the school on Thursday, September 24.
According to Principal Nicole J. Morgan, a student noticed a swastika drawn on a classroom desk during seventh period and reported it to a teacher. The teacher then notified school administration before the end of the class period.
Morgan said the school is pursuing appropriate action under MCPS hate-bias protocols and that anyone found responsible will face consequences consistent with the MCPS Code of Conduct. “The presence of this symbol is highly inappropriate, unacceptable, and deeply offensive,” Morgan wrote, adding that it contradicts the core values of Walter Johnson High School and MCPS.
The principal thanked the student who reported the incident and encouraged students who need support processing what occurred to contact their counselor.
