The Taste of Rio festival scheduled for Sunday, September 27 at Rio in Gaithersburg has been canceled due to the forecast for inclement weather.
“Out of an abundance of caution due to the inclement weather forecasted today, September 27, we have made the tough decision to cancel the Taste of Rio event,” organizers announced Sunday morning.
Anyone who pre-purchased tasting tickets or a VIP package will automatically receive a refund. Those with questions or concerns about their orders are encouraged to contact event organizers for assistance.
The festival had been scheduled to take place from 2-6pm along Rio’s lakefront boardwalk, with more than 15 restaurants and eateries offering samples of signature food and beverage items. Live music, games and food-themed competitions were also planned.
The canceled festival was set to conclude this year’s Taste of Rio Restaurant Week, which ran September 18-26 and featured special deals, limited-time menus and discounts from 15 Rio restaurants and eateries.
