A transformer fire near Observation Drive and Ridge Road has caused a power outage affecting parts of the Milestone area in Germantown.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer reported at approximately 1:30pm that a transformer had blown and caught fire near Observation Drive and Ridge Road, with a related power outage in the area.
Power has remained out for an extended period of time in parts of Milestone Shopping Center and surrounding areas. The MoCoShow was sent video from the scene showing an SUV being removed at approximately 4pm. It is not currently clear whether the vehicle was involved in the incident that caused the transformer fire or was being removed for another reason.
