Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a basement fire on Woodridge Avenue in North Kensington at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26.
According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, a working smoke alarm alerted a resident, who called 911. Another occupant was found unconscious in the basement and rescued by firefighters. The adult woman was transported with life-threatening injuries to a burn center.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental, with multiple potential ignition sources that were electrical in nature. Damage is estimated at approximately $110,000, and four adults were displaced.
