The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will discontinue its Glenmont Express Shuttle, with the final day of service scheduled for Friday, October 2.
The free Ride On shuttle was launched in response to Metro’s partial Red Line closure from July 6 through September 6, providing direct service between the Milestone Park-and-Ride, Shady Grove Metro and Glenmont Metro on weekdays.
MCDOT initially planned to operate the shuttle during the Metro closure but extended service through September following high ridership and positive customer feedback. The department said ridership has declined since the western side of the Red Line reopened, leading to the decision to discontinue the service.
The Glenmont Express currently operates every 40 minutes from 6-9 a.m. and 3-7 p.m. on weekdays. Its final trips will operate Friday.
All other Montgomery County Ride On services, including Ride On, Ride On extRa, Ride On Flex and Flash, remain fare-free.
