Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Aspen Hill that resulted in the death of 62-year-old Saijuan Chen of Rockville.
Police said officers responded to the area of Arctic Avenue and Bel Pre Road around 7:21 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, for a report of a pedestrian struck. The initial investigation found that Chen was crossing Arctic Avenue when she was struck by a green 2023 Jeep Wrangler whose driver was making a left turn onto Arctic Avenue from Bel Pre Road.
Chen was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead. Police said the driver left the scene following the collision. A witness provided officers with a description of the Jeep and its license plate, allowing officers to quickly locate the vehicle and driver.
The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the fatal collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 240-773-6620.
