Identity, Inc. Awarded Nearly $210,000 to Support Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village Communities

Identity, Inc. has been awarded $209,929 through Maryland’s ENOUGH Initiative to support community-driven efforts aimed at reducing child poverty and increasing economic mobility in parts of Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village.

According to the City of Gaithersburg, the grant covers the period from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. Identity leads a coalition of local partners that includes the City of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Public Schools, community organizations and the University of Maryland School of Public Health.

The funding will focus on six high-need census tracts in central Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village. The areas are served by Gaithersburg, Harriet R. Tubman, South Lake and Summit Hall elementary schools, along with Gaithersburg Middle School and Gaithersburg High School.

The ENOUGH Initiative, which stands for Engaging Neighborhoods, Organizations, Unions, Governments and Households, supports community-led partnerships working on place-based strategies to reduce childhood poverty and improve economic mobility.

“Residents have spoken clearly about the changes they want to see: stronger support and opportunities for young people, greater housing and economic stability for families, and easier access to trusted services,” Identity Executive Director Diego Uriburu said. “The responsibility now is to turn those priorities into action. This funding will help residents lead that work in their own communities.”

Partners in the Gaithersburg-Montgomery Village initiative include the Black and Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence, City of Gaithersburg Community Services Division, Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative, Housing Initiative Partnership, Identity, Inc., MCPS, Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Learning and the University of Maryland School of Public Health.

“Gaithersburg’s Community Services Division is proud to once again support this collaborative, community-centered effort,” Community Services Division Manager Renee Nicolosi said. “We are grateful to Identity, Inc. and our partners for their leadership and collective efforts, and we look forward to working together to build a stronger, more equitable future for Gaithersburg.”

ENOUGH GMV is the Gaithersburg-Montgomery Village component of the statewide initiative and brings together residents, schools, community organizations and local government to develop and carry out a shared Neighborhood Action Plan. The statewide ENOUGH Initiative is administered through the Maryland Governor’s Office for Children.
