Fox Chapel Elementary School closed at noon on Monday, October 5, due to a water main break in the area that is expected to disrupt water service to the school.
According to Montgomery County Public Schools, students were provided lunch before dismissal. Students who normally receive bus transportation were transported home by bus.
WSSC Water has indicated that repairs and restoration of water service are expected to take approximately six to eight hours. The work will also likely prevent access to the school grounds during that time.
MCPS acknowledged that the early dismissal may create an inconvenience for families and thanked the school community for its understanding.
