D.C. Man Sentenced for Pharmacy Burglary Spree Across Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania

A Washington D.C. man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for his role in a burglary ring that targeted 20 pharmacies across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

U.S. District Judge Stephanie Gallagher sentenced 33-year-old Deontae Britton, also known as Deaundre Blount, to 80 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for conspiracy to commit pharmacy burglaries.

According to federal prosecutors, Britton and his co-conspirators burglarized 20 pharmacies between January and April 2022, prompting a multi-state, multi-agency investigation. Authorities said two masked individuals wearing dark clothing, including Britton, would enter the pharmacies after business hours while another member of the group served as a lookout in a separate vehicle nearby.

During the burglaries, the individuals used a blue pry bar and a large silver Halligan bar, a forcible-entry tool commonly used by firefighters, to break through doors, frames and locks. Once inside, the burglars typically remained in the pharmacy for less than two minutes while searching for controlled substances that could later be illegally distributed. Among the drugs stolen were oxycodone, Promethazine-Codeine syrup, Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen, Adderall, Suboxone and fentanyl patches.

Prosecutors identified Britton’s co-conspirators as 40-year-old Harold Dorman of Chillum and 58-year-old William Sherod III of Fort Washington. Sherod was sentenced to 40 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Dorman’s case remains pending.

The investigation involved the FDA, FBI and DEA along with numerous local law enforcement agencies across the three states, including the Montgomery County Police Department and Rockville City Police Department. The U.S. Attorney’s Office does not provide mugshots.
