Discount Tire Seeks Approval for First Maryland Location

Discount Tire is seeking approval to open its first Maryland location in Gaithersburg.

The company is requesting Schematic Development Plan approval for the construction of a 7,020 SF retail building at 105 Flask Place, off N. Frederick Ave. (355). The proposed location is across from Costco and next to the new development on Progress Way that is home to Sheetz and Chick-fil-A.

Plans for the project are currently under review, and a joint public hearing has not yet been scheduled. Comments regarding the application may be mailed to 31 South Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877, or emailed to [email protected].

Discount Tire, legally operating as the Reinalt-Thomas Corporation, is the largest independent tire and wheel retailer in the United States. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, the company operates more than 1,200 retail locations across 40 states, but currently has no locations in Maryland.

The company specializes in replacement passenger and light truck tires, custom wheels, and basic tire maintenance services, including tire rotations, balancing, flat repairs, and air pressure checks. Discount Tire generally does not perform broader automotive repairs such as brake or engine work.
