Chicken Salad Chick to Open in Rockville

Chicken Salad Chick is planning another Montgomery County location, with the fast-casual restaurant chain coming to King Farm in Rockville.

The restaurant will take over the former Wells Fargo space next to Alloy Personal Training in the King Farm community. An anticipated opening date has not yet been announced.

Chicken Salad Chick specializes in made-from-scratch chicken salad, offering a variety of signature flavors ranging from traditional recipes to options featuring fruits, nuts and spices. The menu also includes soups, sandwiches, fresh salads, sides and desserts. The chain was founded in Auburn, Alabama, in 2008 by Stacy Brown, who began selling homemade chicken salad before opening the first restaurant with her husband, Kevin. The concept has since expanded into a franchise with hundreds of locations across the United States.

Among its signature chicken salad varieties are Classic Carol, a traditional recipe; Fancy Nancy, featuring apples, pecans and grapes; and Buffalo Barclay, which offers a spicy buffalo-inspired flavor. Customers can order chicken salad by the scoop, as a sandwich or as part of a meal with sides.

The Olney restaurant, located at 18209 Olney Village Center Drive in the former karate studio space next to Hallmark, has experienced several opening delays. Most recently, its planned September 23 grand opening was postponed because the restaurant was still waiting for electrical power. The Olney franchise owners, Jim Schleckser and Carrie Tydings, previously indicated they were targeting a mid-October opening, though a confirmed date has not been announced.
