Gaithersburg-based Adventist HealthCare has announced plans to implement Epic as its enterprise electronic health record platform, a two-year project the health system describes as one of the most significant investments in its history.
The new system is expected to launch in 2028 and will connect Adventist HealthCare’s hospitals, physician practices, rehabilitation and behavioral health services, imaging and cancer centers, home care and other services through a single patient record.
According to Adventist HealthCare, the transition is intended to make it easier for providers across its network to access and share patient information while giving patients improved access to their health information and digital tools.
“Implementing Epic is an investment in our future and in the people we serve,” said Adventist HealthCare President and CEO John Sackett. “By connecting information across our system, we will enhance the patient experience, strengthen collaboration among our care teams and support the continued delivery of high-quality, compassionate care.”
The Epic platform is expected to go live across the health system in 2028.
