A Glen Burnie restaurant property with more than six decades of local dining history has been sold for $2.125 million.
Hyatt Commercial announced the sale of 625 Greenway Road SE, most recently home to Mike’s Inland at Sunset and, before that, the longtime Sunset Restaurant. George Shenas and Collin Mercier of Hyatt Commercial represented the seller, Brothers Real Estate Investments, LLC, while the buyer was represented by MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services. The property had been marketed as a restaurant with furniture, fixtures and equipment included.
Mike’s Inland at Sunset opened in October 2024 after the owners of Mike’s Restaurant & Crabhouse purchased the former Sunset Restaurant property for $1.5 million in July 2023 and completed extensive renovations.
The restaurant operated for less than two years before announcing that Sunday, August 2, 2026, would be its final day of business. In announcing the closure, Mike’s thanked customers for their support, loyalty and the memories shared during the restaurant’s run.
Prior to Mike’s, the property was best known as the home of Sunset Restaurant, a longtime Glen Burnie dining destination that operated for 60 years. Sunset Restaurant opened in 1960 and was owned and operated by the Fratantuono family throughout its run. The business evolved from its early days as a nightclub with a dance floor and slot machines into a longtime restaurant known for its surf-and-turf menu.
The restaurant closed in September 2020 amid the financial impact and capacity restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. A portion of the property was later briefly revived as the Sunset Back Bar before the property was eventually sold to the owners of Mike’s.
Hyatt Commercial said the property’s established restaurant use and improvements made under the previous ownership were key considerations in the latest transaction. “The sale marks a transition in ownership for a well-known Glen Burnie location,” Shenas said.
The identity of the new owner and future plans for the property were not included in the announcement.
