Maryland Dim Sum Guide Highlights Seven Restaurants Across The State

Maryland food creator Nomtastic Kim recently shared a guide to seven dim sum spots across the state, with four of the featured restaurants located in Montgomery County.

The roundup includes a mix of traditional dim sum restaurants with weekend cart service, made-to-order options, and an all-you-can-eat experience. The four Montgomery County selections are Q by Peter Chang in Bethesda, Far East Restaurant in Rockville, Corner Bites in Rockville, and A&J Restaurant in Rockville.

Q by Peter Chang, located at 4500 East-West Highway in Bethesda, offers an all-you-can-eat dim sum experience on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3pm. The guide highlights the restaurant’s more than 40 options and recommends dishes including the scallion bubble pancake, Sichuan chili wontons, chive and shrimp cake, and fresh shrimp rice crepe.

Far East Restaurant, located at 5055 Nicholson Lane in Rockville, has been a longtime destination for dim sum in Montgomery County. The restaurant offers dim sum daily with cart service on weekends. Nomtastic Kim describes Far East as a local staple and notes that the restaurant serves traditional favorites along with newer creations. The restaurant has been serving dim sum since 1974 and has operated at its current location since 1984.

Corner Bites, located at 316 N. Washington Street in Rockville, is one of the newer restaurants included in the roundup. Rather than relying on traditional carts, the restaurant specializes in Hong Kong-style Cantonese dim sum prepared to order. Recommended items include its baked BBQ pork pastries, stuffed eggplant, and egg tarts. Corner Bites opened in 2025 in the former Bob’s Noodle 66 space and has also received recognition from Washingtonian for its made-to-order approach.

A&J Restaurant, located at 1319 Rockville Pike in Rockville, rounds out the Montgomery County selections. The restaurant differs from the more traditional Cantonese dim sum spots on the list, specializing in Taiwanese and Northern Chinese-style small plates. Nomtastic Kim recommends its pan-fried pork dumplings, scallion pancake, and beef noodle soup. The Rockville restaurant opened in 1996 and has developed a longtime following for its handmade dumplings, noodles, buns, and other dishes.

Outside Montgomery County, the guide also features Mai Dragon at 2647 Annapolis Road in Hanover, which offers daily dim sum and weekend cart service; Dim Sum Palace at 6600 Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville, where weekend cart service includes items such as black truffle shrimp dumplings and crabmeat dumplings; and Asian Court at 11105 Resort Road in Ellicott City, known for Hong Kong-style dim sum and weekend roaming carts.

The seven selections span several different styles of dim sum experiences, from traditional rolling carts to made-to-order dishes and all-you-can-eat service, while Montgomery County accounts for more than half of the restaurants featured in the guide.
