The family of the man killed in a stabbing early Monday morning in Wheaton has identified him as Chris, also known to friends as “Schuler,” and has launched a GoFundMe to help with funeral-related expenses and celebrations of his life.
As previously reported, Montgomery County Police are investigating the November 2 stabbing in the 11300 block of Elkin Street as a homicide. In the fundraiser, Chris’ sister described him as her brother, best friend, and “personal bodyguard.”
“Everyone knew Chris, whether as Chris or simply Schuler. But to me, he was so much more than a name,” she wrote. “Growing up, he was my brother, my best friend, and my personal bodyguard.” According to the fundraiser, Chris leaves behind his sister, three nieces, two nephews, and numerous friends who were considered family.
His sister said funds raised will help cover his cremation, multiple trips she will need to make from Florida to Maryland, and celebrations of life for family and friends. “He touched the lives of so many people, and his loss leaves a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him,” she wrote.
The fundraiser also asks those who are unable to donate to consider sharing it. “Until we meet again, Chris. You’ll always be my brother, my best friend, and my personal bodyguard. I love you, and I’ll carry you with me always.”
