Hosted by the iconic LeVar Burton, a special “Battle of the Teachers” episode of Trivial Pursuit invites educators to showcase their knowledge in a thrilling trivia showdown for a chance to win $20,000. On October 17th, Miriam Tesfamikael, a biology teacher and the varsity boys basketball coach at Springbrook High School, will be among the competitors. The show will air on the CW at 9 PM.
Tesfamikael, originally from Columbia, Missouri, is a former collegiate athlete who played basketball at the University of Chicago. She began her academic journey early, earning a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy with a focus on Education Reform, followed by a master’s degree in teaching, both from the University of Chicago.
In 2017, she and her husband relocated to the D.C. metropolitan area, where she joined the varsity basketball program at Springbrook High School while simultaneously teaching and coaching at Argyle Middle School. In 2018, she took on the role of junior varsity boys basketball coach at Springbrook. Since 2019, Tesfamikael has been teaching biology at the school, and in 2022, she was appointed as the varsity boys basketball coach, further solidifying her commitment to both education and athletics.
