According to a map of user-reported Verizon issues on Downdetector, an area that stretches roughly 300 miles from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Richmond, Virginia (and including much of Maryland and DC) has been impacted.
In an email statement to Newsweek at 7 a.m. EST, a Verizon spokesperson wrote, “An early morning network issue briefly disrupted service for some Verizon Fios customers in the northeast. Once we identified the problem, our engineering teams promptly worked to restore service.”
Downdetector, a third-party site that monitors real-time service outages, reported a surge in outage complaints between midnight and 2 a.m. ET, with thousands of users submitting reports during that timeframe.
