Earlier this year, California Fish Grill– a chain with approximately 50 restaurants in California and Arizona– noted that it was eyeing expansion to East Coast markets like Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. in the coming years. Now, the chain has signed on for its first Maryland location in Rockville’s Towne Plaza.
According to klnb, California Fish Grill has signed a lease to take over the space at 12238 Rockville Pike. Boston Market signed on for the space a few years back, but never opened, and Five Guys operated out of the space until approximately eight years ago. California Fish Grill will join the soon-to-be-open Tatte in what seems to be somewhat of a resurgence for the shopping center.
Established in 1998, California Fish Grill is a counter-service restaurant that focuses on providing affordable yet sustainable seafood options. Renowned for its grilled seafood selection, the menu features a diverse array of offerings, including coastal tacos, hand-battered seafood dishes, chowder, salads, and plant-based alternatives.
The restaurant is committed to sustainability, serving seafood that is designated as Best Choice or Good Alternative by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program, or Eco-Certified by third-party organizations. CFG sources its seafood exclusively from reputable fisheries and farms that prioritize the health of ecosystems, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy high-quality seafood for years to come.
