Prince William County police arrested Elias Samuel Vargas Canaviri, 22, of Silver Spring, MD, on charges of indecent liberties, carnal knowledge, and using a communication system to facilitate offenses involving a minor, following an investigation into a sexual assault reported by the victim to a school counselor.
According to police, “On November 20, detectives concluded an investigation into the solicitation of a minor that was reported to have occurred in the Manassas (20109) area of Prince William County between October 20 and October 21. The investigation revealed during the above timeframe, the victim, who was under the age of 18 at the time of the offenses, received sexually explicit messages from an acquaintance, identified as the accused, via Snapchat. In addition, the accused arranged to meet with the victim, and while together, the accused sexually assaulted the victim before the parties separated. The victim recently reported the incident to a school counselor who contacted the police.
Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Elias Samuel VARGAS CANAVIRI, was arrested.”
