Montgomery County Police Urge Vigilance Amid Rise in Auto Thefts and Tampering

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is advising residents to report thefts from vehicles or vehicle tampering, remain vigilant during overnight hours, park in well-lit areas, lock doors, remove valuables, and watch for suspicious activity as thefts from autos and auto parts, including Honda airbag thefts, remain a concern.

Countywide, theft from auto and theft of auto parts is a challenge. Here are a few things to note:

Recently we are seeing some reports of Honda vehicles having airbags stolen. Our patrol investigative section reviews and follows leads on theft from auto cases.

Please report all incidents of theft from auto or vehicle tampering to MCPD.

When parking your vehicle, park in well-lit areas when possible, lock your doors, and remove valuables from your vehicle.

Overnight hours and early morning hours are traditionally a frequent time when these types of thefts occur.  Be vigilant for suspicious persons or vehicles and report these situations to MCPD.
