Police Investigating Homicide After One Found Dead

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating the homicide of an adult male found in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, prompting road closures at Sligo Avenue and traffic delays in the area on Monday morning.

According to MCPD, “On Monday, December 16, at approximately 3:31 a.m. 3rd District Officers and Fire Rescue Personnel responded to the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue for a person down.

Upon arriving an adult male was located with trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The decedent will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death.”

MCPD issued the following alert at 7:02am: The Major Crimes Division is investigating the death of an adult male found in the 8000 block of Georgia Ave as a homicide. The road is shut down at Sligo Ave.

Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and expect delays.”
