On Tuesday, plainclothes officers in Downtown Silver Spring disrupted an attempted robbery spree, apprehending a suspect with the help K9 units and a drone after three unsuccessful robbery attempts.
According to Montgomery County Police Police 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos on Twitter/X, “Tonight your @mcpnews 3rd District Special Assignment Team (SAT) observed a subject attempting to rob someone on Georgia Avenue near the Washington DC line. The victim was able to run away from the suspect. SAT called for air support to assist along with K9. Our Drone as First Responder (DFR) RAVEN 1 quickly arrived in the area and helped track the suspect who attempted two additional robberies (both unsuccessful as the victims also ran away).
The adult male suspect was taken into custody by SAT officers & K9 and was transported to central processing to be charged with attempted robbery (3x).”
We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
