Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and White Oak Medical Center welcomed two of the first babies of 2025, with a baby boy born at 12:13 a.m. in Rockville and a baby girl at 2:35 a.m. in Silver Spring.
Both families received gift baskets to commemorate the occasion, reflecting the hospitals’ roles in serving their communities’ maternity needs.
“This time of year holds a special place in our hearts at Shady Grove Medical Center,” said Amber Richter, Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center’s director of Women’s and Infants’ Services. “It is both a joy and a privilege for our dedicated team to be part of
the excitement and love that comes with welcoming new life into the world.”
“Welcoming a baby is always a moment of pure joy and excitement for our entire team,” said James Rost, MD, a neonatologist and vice president and chief medical officer of White Oak Medical Center, which welcomes just over 1,850 babies a year. “We are delighted to be part of this family’s special moment as we bring in the New Year together.”
