The McDonald’s located at 11564 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda has permanently closed, with signage removed on Thursday morning. A new McDonald’s is set to open at 11710 Rockville Pike, the former site of Arby’s (construction photos below).
The key difference between the two locations is that the new McDonald’s will feature a drive-thru, unlike the previous location. We will provide an update when the new McDonald’s opens. Arby’s closed its last Montgomery County back in May of 2021.
In June 2021 Washington Business Journal (WBJ) reported that Shake Shack would be moving into the 11710 Rockville Pike space, but the deep negotiations fell through and the space had remained vacant for more than three years. An opening timeframe for the upcoming McDonald’s is not yet available, but we expect it to open in the first half of 2025.
