Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers arrested a suspect in Silver Spring after finding a loaded handgun and drugs during a traffic stop on Friday.
3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos tweeted: “New Year… Same Operational Tempo. Traffic stop = Gun Arrest 🔫🚓
Tonight your @mcpnews 3rd District evening patrol officers made a traffic stop in downtown Silver Spring. Officers located a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat and drugs in the car.
The adult suspect was safely arrested and taken to central processing to be booked.
Silver Spring finished 2024 with overall contact and non contact shootings down ⬇️ about 20% compared to 2023. More work to do, but each gun seized helps.”
