A Rockville defendant was taken into custody in Montgomery County Circuit Court after being indicted on additional charges of theft over $100,000, involving a total alleged theft of over $2 million from multiple victims, and was ordered held without bond.
Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Marybeth Ayres, defendant Sari Kurland Esq., 63, of Rockville, was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant was in court for a hearing in case where she had been indicted on three counts of theft scheme over $100,000 and several related charges. Yesterday, January 23, 2025, a warrant was issued for her arrest after the State filed a superseding indictment and the Grand Jury indicted Kurland on three additional counts of theft over $100,000. Kurland has been ordered held without bond. Her next hearing in Circuit Court is scheduled for February 4, 2025.

COUNT one: Theft Scheme: $100,000 Plus 1 1303
The Grand Jurors of the State of Maryland, for the body of Montgomery County, upon their oaths and affirmations, present that Sari K. Kurland on or about and between May 19, 2022 and June 27, 2024, in Montgomery County, Maryland, did steal $1,867,239.00 in United States currency, the property of 13 victims having the value of $100,000 or more, the thefts being committed pursuant to one scheme and continuing course of conduct, in violation of Section 7-104 of the Criminal Law Article against the peace, government, and dignity of the State.
COUNT two: Theft Scheme: $100,000 Plus 1 1303
The Grand Jurors of the State of Maryland, for the body of Montgomery County, upon their oaths and affirmations, present that Sari K. Kurland on or about and between November 1, 2022 and August 31, 2023, in Montgomery County, Maryland, did steal $309,637.50 in United States currency, the property of two victims, having the value of $100,000 or more, the thefts being committed pursuant to one scheme and continuing course of conduct, in violation of Section 7-104 of the Criminal Law Article against the peace, government, and dignity of the State.
COUNT three: Theft: $100,000 Plus 1 1134
The Grand Jurors of the State of Maryland, for the body of Montgomery County, upon their oaths and affirmations, present that Sari K. Kurland on or about and between October 3, 2022 and March 30, 2023, in Montgomery County, Maryland, did steal $115,400.00 in United States currency, the property of one victim, having the value of $100,000 or more, in violation of Section 7-104 of the Criminal Law Article against the peace, government, and dignity of the State.
