MCPS recently shared that the Washington Commanders joined Clarksburg High School in their gymnasium for a pep rally this past Thursday (video below).
Clarksburg Principal Anita O’Neill and Student Member of the Board of Education Praneel Suvarna opened the festivities, warmly welcoming former Commanders players—linebacker Rocky McIntosh and wide receiver Josh Morgan.
This pep rally not only honored the Commanders but also celebrated the Clarksburg Coyotes’ flag football team, who triumphed in the state championship last November. This marked the inaugural season for flag football in MCPS.
The gym buzzed with energy and playoff spirit as fans eagerly anticipated the Commanders’ return to the NFC Championship game for the first time in over 30 years. Students and staff showcased their dance moves in a lively contest with the Command Force dance team and mascot, Major Tuddy. They also had the chance to test their football knowledge with trivia games and snag some Commanders merchandise.
MCPS also shared that joining in the celebration were members of the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor, along with Dr. Jeff Sullivan, director of the MCPS Department of Athletics, Ed Dalton, Clarksburg’s athletic director, and Dan Levy, director of youth football for the Washington Commanders.
