Rock Creek Tavern is now open at 5500 Olney Laytonsville Rd. in Olney, in the space that was most recently home to Mackie’s BBQ.
The Rock Creek Tavern menu features a variety of American-style dishes, including starters like ahi tuna, calamari rings, and tavern crab dip. Entrées include seafood, ribs, jambalaya, and steak, served with sides like mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies, and sweet potato fries. Additional items include flatbreads, burgers, and carne asada.
According to its website, “Rock Creek Tavern – a lively sports bar and family-friendly restaurant, where great food, refreshing drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere come together. Whether you’re catching the big game, enjoying a casual family dinner, or winding down with friends, our cozy yet energetic space has something for everyone. In addition to Mackie’s, the space has also previously been home to Umberto’s, Matt’s Kabobs, Dave’s, and more. On January 10th, Kamran “Cam” Makki, owner of Mackie’s Barbecue, announced that the restaurant would be closing its Clarksburg, Frederick, and Olney locations effective immediately as the business focuses on growing its catering and online delivery business. Mackie’s is continuing to operate out of its Gaithersburg location for catering and food delivery (available via delivery apps).
