A suspected drug dealer and buyer were arrested in downtown Silver Spring after a drug deal led to a police stop, during which the dealer attempted to flee by ramming a police car and was found with over two pounds of marijuana and a stolen handgun.
According to District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos on Twitter/X, “Last night (2/25/25) at about 10PM your @mcpnews 3rd District plain clothes officers were working in downtown Silver Spring focusing on proactive criminal enforcement. Officers observed a suspected drug deal and proceeded to stop the parties involved.
One subject (believed to be the “buyer”) was found with marijuana, cocaine, and prescription pills – some of which they admitted purchasing from the “dealer”.
The other subject (believed to be the “dealer”) tried to ram a police car in an unsuccessful attempt to flee but was arrested. Officers found over 2 pounds of marijuana and a loaded stolen handgun in the car. The handgun was reported stolen from another jurisdiction.
The “dealer” is a convicted felon and also had been convicted of handgun charges in the past as well. They were transported to Central Processing and booked on felony charges.
Neither of these individuals live in Montgomery County. We will continue to root out criminal activity, especially getting dangerous guns off the street, in order to make our community safer for all.”
