Celebrity-Backed Hot Chicken Chain Dave’s to Open Second Montgomery County Location at Former McDonald’s Location

California-based Dave’s Hot Chicken opened its first Montgomery County location in White Oak on November 15 and is set to launch a second restaurant at 11564 Rockville Pike in the Metro Pike Shopping Center This new Dave’s site will occupy the former McDonald’s location, which is relocating to 11710 Rockville Pike later this year.

The hot chicken chain boasts celebrity investors, including the likes of Drake and Samuel L. Jackson. It opened its first DMV location at 3301 14th St NW in Washington, DC, in March 2023. Originally starting as a late-night food stand in Los Angeles in 2017, the brand has since expanded to over 100 franchise locations across the U.S. Its menu features chicken tenders and sliders with spice levels ranging from “Lite Mild” to “Reaper,” along with crinkle-cut fries, mac & cheese, and milkshakes.

An opening date has not yet been announced, but news of its impending arrival was first reported by Moco Today and Store Reporter and has been confirmed by Saul Centers. A photo of the old McDonald’s location it will be moving into can be seen below.

“We’re known for having the hottest, most flavorful hot chicken on the planet, and giving our guests what they’re craving,” said Dave’s Hot Chicken’s CEO, Bill Phelps. “The introduction of our hottest Reaper ever delivers on that. We heard from our superfans that they want something even hotter so, along with giving them just that, we’re also launching a new line of frozen beverages to help them cool down.”
