Mack Hollins, a native of Montgomery County, MD, is continuing his stellar NFL career as he signs a two-year contract worth $8.4 million with the New England Patriots. Hollins, who attended Robert Frost Middle School and Wootton High School, has come a long way since his early days on the gridiron.
After struggling to receive scholarship offers out of high school, Hollins pursued his football dreams at Fork Union Military Academy. There, he not only honed his skills but also earned several offers to join collegiate teams, including a walk-on opportunity with the University of North Carolina. Demonstrating his determination, Hollins successfully gained admission to the university, allowing him to walk on to the football team. He went on to play three seasons for the Tar Heels, showcasing his talent and commitment to the sport.
Hollins’ hard work paid off when he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, he has continued to impress in the league.
His recent signing with the Patriots reunites him with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who previously coached Hollins during a standout season in 2022 with the Las Vegas Raiders. That year, Hollins achieved career-highs with 89 targets, 57 receptions, and 690 receiving yards, solidifying his reputation as a valuable asset on the field.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the new contract with the Patriots could be worth up to $10.4 million, depending on performance incentives. While Hollins may not be projected to consistently fill the role of a WR3, his speed and playmaking ability are expected to provide the Patriots’ offense with a much-needed boost, making him a player to watch this upcoming season.
