Six weeks after a driver crashed through its storefront, reconstruction at Big Greek Cafe (3200 block Bennett Creek Ave, Urbana, Frederick County) is complete, cleaning is underway, and the restaurant will reopen for service on Friday, March 14.
To celebrate its reopening and Greek Independence Day, the Urbana location will host a Grand Reopening event on Tuesday, March 25. This celebration will feature live music, free gyros, raffle prizes, and giveaways. Additionally, all Big Greek Cafe locations will offer free rice pudding with any order over $25 on March 25. Big Greek Cafe is based right here in Montgomery County, with its first restaurant opening in Downtown Silver Spring back in 2009.
On January 31, a driver crashed into the storefront of Big Greek Cafe’s Urbana location, resulting in two patients being evaluated and transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Following the incident, Big Greek Cafe expressed relief that both the driver and a guest sustained only non-life-threatening injuries. The restaurant thanked the Frederick County Fire & Rescue Team for their quick response and support, stating, “We are thankful that the situation wasn’t more serious and are keeping both individuals in our thoughts as they recover.”
