The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared at 1:52pm on Wednesday that Watkins Mill High School in Montgomery Village is on lockdown.
Per MCPD: “Watkins Mill HS is on lockdown following a reported assault on campus. One student has been transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. MCPD is on scene.”
2:27pm update: Officers are still on scene at Watkins Mill High School. The school is transitioning to a shelter in place.
3:21pm update: Watkins Mill is no longer on lockdown and students have been dismissed for the day. MCPD is investigating the assault on the student.
According to a letter from the school’s principal, officials were informed of a fight between two students that involved a weapon. No further details have been confirmed by MCPS or MCPD.
