Juvenile Bald Eagle Rescued After Getting Caught in Fishing Line

Maryland-National Capital Park Police (Montgomery County Division) responded to Lake Frank in Derwood on Saturday for a juvenile bald eagle caught in fishing line with a hook in its mouth. The eagle was rescued, treated at the Moon Owl Raptor Center, and will be released soon.

According to Park Police, “On Saturday officers responded to Lake Frank for a bald eagle that was caught in fishing line. Wildlife photographers observed that the juvenile eagle had a fish hook in its mouth. Officers captured the eagle, and waited for staff from the Moon Owl Raptor Center to arrive.

The eagle was taken to the center where the hook was removed, and the eagle is currently under observation. The eagle will be released in the same area in the coming days. We will update this post when it’s released.”
