Even though the Fourth of July has passed, there are still several great opportunities to catch fireworks displays in Montgomery County tonight, Saturday, July 5.
Kensington:
The Mid-County Sparkles celebration will take place tonight, Saturday, July 5, at Albert Einstein High School (11135 Newport Mill Road, Kensington). The event kicks off at 7 p.m. with live music from Downtown Sound, and a fireworks display is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
Parking on-site at the high school is reserved for individuals with disabilities only. Free general parking and shuttle service will be provided starting at 6:30 p.m. from Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Road, Wheaton). Attendees are advised not to park at the mall before 6:30 p.m., as vehicles may be towed at the property owner’s discretion. Directional signage will assist guests in locating designated parking areas and shuttle stops.
Olney:
Tonight, Olney will combine baseball and fireworks during the popular FIREWORKS GAME, featuring the Olney Cropdusters vs. the Silver Spring–Takoma Thunderbolts at OBGC Park. The game begins at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 9:30 p.m., presented by Zambelli Fireworks.
A $12 Parking Pass Only ticket allows access to the grounds starting at 7:30 p.m. for those who want to view just the fireworks. For full access to the game and fireworks, adult tickets are $18, and children 11 and under attend for free with a paying adult. Attendees can enjoy lawn seating, bring their own chairs, or sit in the newly constructed grandstand. Food and drinks will be available throughout the night from Taste Inc., KONA ICE, and Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company. The event is supported by the Town of Poolesville, Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce, and UMCVFD, with volunteer first responders on-site.
