Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in Frederick County on Saturday morning that killed a six-month-old infant and injured two others when a Dodge Durango struck a telephone pole and a house on Woodsboro Pike.
According to police, “A six-month old infant was flown by Maryland State Police Helicopter to Johns Hopkins Children Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. Two additional occupants in a Dodge Durango, a 3-year-boy and a 26-year-old female, were transported by ambulance to The Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver was reported uninjured.
Around 10:53 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack responded to the 12000 residential-block of Woodsboro Pike (Maryland 194) for a report of a single-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the Dodge was traveling north, when for unknown reasons, struck a telephone pole and subsequently a residence. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the crash. Police do not believe impairment was a factor in this crash.
All lanes at Maryland 194 are closed. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration are assisting with the road closure. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the active and ongoing investigation.”
