Updated at 12:06pm: Connecticut Avenue (MD-185) is currently closed at Plyers Mill Road in Kensington following a fatal pedestrian collision involving a U.S. Postal Service mail truck.
Montgomery County Police 2nd District officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the pedestrian—a female adult—was extricated and transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the mail truck remained on the scene.
Northbound Connecticut Avenue is closed at Plyers Mill Road, and drivers should expect significant delays and are advised to seek an alternate route.
