Update: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Postal Truck Outside Gas Station

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released additional information regarding a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road.

According to MCPD, “At approximately 10:40 a.m., Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a US Postal van. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of the van was exiting the Mobil gas station in the 10600 block of Connecticut Avenue and preparing to turn onto Connecticut Avenue, when for reasons unknown at this time, the driver struck an adult female who was walking across the apron of the driveway of the gas station.

The adult female pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this fatality. A news release will be distributed once more details are available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.”
