Eater DC has released its list of the “The Best Affordable Dining Options in the D.C. Area” which consist of budget-friendly options covering a variety of cuisines. The list includes three Maryland restaurants, all with locations in Montgomery County
Quarry House, located at 8401 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, is a popular MoCo dive bar that offers a selection of different burgers, its famous tots, and a variety of bar fare that starts at $5. Fun Fact: Quarry House is the owner of Montgomery County’s liquor license #2 (Hank Dietle’s is the proud owner of the first liquor license.)
Pupuseria La Familiar, located at 11324 Fern St. in Wheaton (with additional locations in New Carrollton? MD and Falls Church, VA), is a Salvadoran pupuseria. In addition to the popular pupusas, the menu consists of a variety of beverages, soups, and a multitude of Salvadoran dishes with many of the pupusas going under $3 a piece. Pupuseria Mama Emilia in Rockville is also owned by the same family with a similar menu.
Falafel Inc opened its first Maryland location at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda in November. The DC-based quick-service chain offers falafel, hummus, bowls, and sides like Zaatar fries and Tabouli salad. In April, its second Montgomery County location opened at 11802 Rockville Pike, Suite G, in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. Sandwiches start at $4, bowls start at $5, and a variety of sides for $3 and up.
