In May, we reported that Andy’s Pizza will be opening a new location at 145 Commerce Square Place in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, taking over the space formerly occupied by MOD Pizza, which closed in March 2024.
The upcoming restaurant is scheduled for a liquor license hearing with the Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) on Thursday, August 21. A representative from Andy’s shared, “The opening is a long way off, so we do not even have a date at this time. We will make an announcement on our social media for our grand opening when the time comes.”
Known for its 72-hour cold-fermented dough baked in a New York deck oven, Andy’s Pizza is celebrated for its crisp crust, chewy interior, and subtle sour flavor. The menu also features salads, wings, fries, and more. Owner Andy Brown, a Bethesda native, had been eyeing the Kentlands area as part of his expansion plans. The brand opened its first Montgomery County location in Bethesda in September 2023, at 4600 East West Highway in the former Booeymonger space.
The Kentlands will mark Andy’s second location in Montgomery County, adding to its growing presence in the D.C. area, which includes restaurants in Adams Morgan, NoMa, Navy Yard, Shaw, and several locations in Northern Virginia.
